a few vignettes
from my work in
UX design and education
First Notes Music Lessons
First Notes is a music scheduling app prototype I created for a hypothetical music school based upon my experience with customer pain points from my years of teaching music lessons. I acted as lead UX designer and researcher, including wireframing, usability testing, interviewing, data analysis, and lo-fi and hi-fi prototyping.

"Planet Sax:
26 Études for Maturing Students"
In 2018, I self-published a 52-page color illustrated book of musical studies for intermediate saxophone students. I created the concept, composed the music, wrote the copy, designed the book's formatting, and promoted it post-production with a video and advertisements. I worked hand-in-hand with creatives at all stages of the process to complete the project (illustration, book design, SEO experts, print production companies, recording engineers, voiceover artists).

Practice Pet
Gamification has revolutionized education. I wanted to make a prototype for an app that could motivate students to do something they dread most: practicing their instruments! Users mark their practice and progress in their sessions each day in order to "feed" their practice pet. I worked as UX lead and graphic designer.

Equity in Access to Music Education
Equitable access to music education for English language learners is a challenge our education system is working hard to meet every day. Having worked in linguistically diverse school districts, I have created a number of bi-lingual and tri-lingual learning materials for my students to give students learning English as much support as possible in order to participate fully in our music classrooms.
